Motor Skills Classes Toddler Gym In Your Area

As children grow from babies to toddlers and preschoolers, they develop essential fine and gross motor skills through movement and physical exercise. Allowing children to explore new activities and exercise their bodies is an excellent way to strengthen those motor skills. Still, it can sometimes put a lot of stress on a caretaker when kids start doing things like climbing on the furniture or making messes.

If you're looking for a way to encourage your child's development that doesn't involve constantly watching to ensure they don't hurt themselves, check out our toddler gym! Our classes are a perfect way to encourage motor skill development in unique, fun and safe ways. Your kids won't realize they're learning and working because they'll have so much fun. Enroll your child in a class today!

What are Fine and Gross Motor Skills?

You might have heard these terms before, but what do they mean? Knowing the definition of fine and gross motor skills can help you encourage their development within your child.

Fine Motor Skills

Fine motor movements involve the smaller muscles of the body, mainly the muscles in the hands, wrist, and fingers. Manual dexterity is needed when coordinating the motion of these muscles, which takes time and practice to grow and strengthen.

Gross Motor Skills

Gross motor movements involve the larger body muscles, including arm, leg, back, and core abdomen muscles. Making these bigger muscles move requires more energy.

Motor Skills Through Childhood Development

Children will develop and strengthen their motor skills at different times as they grow. Understanding when your child should learn these skills will help you keep them on track. We offer classes at our toddler gym for each of these age groups.

  • Fine motor skills: Bringing fingers to mouth, moving objects between hands, squeezing toys, and developing pincer grasp (using index finger and thumb to grasp something).
  • Gross motor skills: Rolling over, holding up the head, sitting up, and crawling.
  • Fine motor skills: Building block towers, clapping and waving, turning pages, holding crayons correctly, and turning doorknobs.
  • Gross motor skills: Climbing onto furniture, walking, running, jumping, and throwing toys.
  • Fine motor skills: folding paper, getting dressed without help, using utensils correctly, and tying shoelaces.
  • Gross motor skills: Catching a ball, walking up stairs, hopping on one foot, and kicking a rolling ball.

Romp n' Roll Toddler Gym Classes

Attending gym classes at Romp n' Roll is a great way to maintain the development of your child's motor skills or even get a jump start on new ones! Children can play on obstacle courses, kid–safe gym equipment, slides, ramps, vaults, and more in our gym classes.

Class instructors will help hone larger muscle groups and gross motor skills during these classes as your child learns the importance of physical activity. We also have exercises in these classes that will strengthen their fine motor skills, like clapping along to songs, tossing and throwing around balls, arts and crafts activities, and building block towers.

Why Choose Romp n' Roll?

At Romp n' Roll, your children are at the center of our attention and purpose. Our goal is to help support your child as they grow through important milestones, including the significant fine and gross motor skills milestones. Achieving those milestones on time can set your child up for success in the future, which is all we want for your little one at Romp n' Roll.

The toddler gym is more than just a playground for your child to run around. Our class leaders aim to strengthen your child’s motor skills with thoroughly thought–out activities and games based on proven research. Your child will have the best time playing games, strengthening their body, and making lasting friends.

When you and your child come to Romp n' Roll, there's no need to worry about your little one running around with older, more rambunctious children. We organize our classes by age group so you and your child can feel comfortable and confident surrounded by children of a similar age and at a similar stage of development. Each class will play age–appropriate activities and games to strengthen and grow their motor skills.

Once your child is independent, you can let them play on their own and enjoy a moment to yourself or make more of your own friends with other parents and caregivers. Sign your child up for a class today!

These cute tots make a mess and have fun learning motor skills at Romp n' Roll's toddler gym.

I had originally written a one star review, reflecting what I thought was completely blatant unprofessionalism, which I was mistaken entirely. Babz is a wonderful person. Hands down, the behavior and negligence of the staffing during a pandemic does not and will remain not being relatable to the way she runs this loca...
